64% of UK workers believe their employers are unnecessarily spending money on benefits they don’t want, with 82% believing benefits packages are out dated and ill suited to their needs, according to research of 1,000 employees by recruiter Michael Page.
Rather than gimmicks, such as free massages, which was citied, 70% want practical benefits. Oliver Watson, Executive Board Director – UK and North America at PageGroup, commented: “As working cultures become more flexible and dynamic, a ‘one-size fits all’ approach to benefits no longer applies . . . employers need to relax their typically fixed policies and start an open conversation about [them].”
