About HPC

HPC is an award-winning HR and Health & Safety consultancy with a powerful sister company, oneHR, providing cutting-edge SaaS solutions. Together, we deliver a comprehensive, personable offering that helps UK business owners navigate the complexities of HR, Health & Safety, and compliance with confidence.

Our clients trust us to be proactive partners in their growth journey. From employee relations and policies to health, wellbeing, safety and fire compliance, we provide practical, commercially-focused solutions that allow business owners to focus on what they do best.

We work primarily with ambitious SMEs turning over £1-15 million who need more than a helpline, they need a strategic partner who understands their challenges and provides real-world solutions.  We also work with a number of enterprise level clients demonstrating our expertise and ability to deliver.

The Role

We are looking for a driven, relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on building genuine connections, closing deals, and developing strategic partnerships that deliver mutual value.

You will play a dual role: winning new consultancy clients across our HR and Health & Safety services while nurturing and expanding our strategic alliance network. With the growth of our fire compliance arm, you will also be instrumental in building relationships with Landlords, Property Developers, and Facilities Managers.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director and offers a clear progression path to a senior leadership position, managing the sales function as we continue to scale.

Your Key Responsibilities:

New Business Development (60%)

  • Identify and win new consultancy clients across our HR, Health & Safety, and fire compliance services
  • Target SMEs (£1-5m turnover) across diverse sectors throughout the UK
  • Conduct consultative sales conversations that uncover client needs and position HPC as the proactive partner they need
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to contract signature (typically 30 days)
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline to consistently achieve monthly and quarterly targets
  • Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that demonstrate our unique value proposition

Strategic Partnerships & Alliances (30%)

  • Develop and nurture strategic partnerships that generate ongoing referral business
  • Build relationships with landlords, property developers, and managing agents to grow our fire compliance offering
  • Identify complementary businesses where strategic alliances make commercial sense
  • Create and execute partnership plans that deliver measurable results
  • Represent HPC at networking events, industry forums, and partner meetings

Collaboration & Growth (10%)

  • Work closely with the Managing Director on high-value opportunities and strategic accounts
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to align campaigns, events, and lead generation activities
  • Contribute to sales process improvements and commercial strategy
  • Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to inform business decisions
  • Support the transition from initial sale to successful client onboarding

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • 3-5 years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in professional services or consultancy
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to develop trust quickly
  • Experience managing both new business acquisition and partnership development
  • Consultative selling approach with excellent questioning and listening skills
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and closing abilities
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the North West.
  • Proficient with CRM systems and sales pipeline management

Desirable:

  • Experience selling HR, Health & Safety, compliance, or related professional services
  • Existing network within the SME business community or property/facilities management sector
  • Understanding of consultancy or retained service sales models
  • Experience working in a smaller, growing business where you have worn multiple hats
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations or building compliance (or willingness to learn)

What Makes You Successful at HPC:

  • You are a natural networker who genuinely enjoys building relationships
  • You understand that selling consultancy is about trust, credibility, and solving real problems
  • You are comfortable operating independently but value collaboration
  • You are hungry for progression and want to grow into a leadership role
  • You have commercial awareness and can spot opportunities others miss
  • You’re resilient, positive, and driven by results
  • You take pride in representing a quality brand and delivering exceptional service
