HR Manager
We have an opportunity for an HR Manager to join us full-time in our North-West office. We are not your typical HR outsourced consultancy…no call centres! This is a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to have ownership over their work, clients, and projects they deliver on in a grown-up environment. We employ experienced HR professionals, who are tired of working in-house, dealing with HR politics and want to progress their career.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing your own client portfolio, providing pragmatic on- and off-site HR support and project delivery tailored to business needs.

Main Purpose of Job:
As a HR Manager, you will manage your own client portfolio, acting as the primary adviser on all aspects of the HR function. You will provide complex and strategic advice, support organisational change, deliver on-site support, and help shape your clients’ HR approach in line with their business goals. You will also contribute to HR projects, policy development, and the overall client experience. The role requires sound judgement, confidence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced consultancy environment while providing clear, practical, legally compliant, and commercially focused HR guidance.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, pragmatic HR and employment law advice across the full range of issues affecting SME clients.
- Act as the lead HR Business Partner for designated clients, building strong working relationships and understanding their commercial priorities.
- Manage high-risk and complex ER matters including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, appeals, TUPE, restructures, redundancy programmes, performance issues and long-term absence.
- Attend client sites to support hearings, consultations, investigations, mediations and manager coaching.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of client HR strategies, workforce planning initiatives, organisational change programmes and culture development work.
- Draft and review contracts, handbooks, HR policies, scripts, letters, investigation reports and settlement documentation.
- Deliver practical, confidence-building training to managers and leadership teams.
- Undertake research, monitor legal developments and ensure all advice reflects current legislation and case law.
- Promote the HPC brand through networking, relationship-building and representing the business at events.
- Identify opportunities for value-added services or additional consultancy support.
- Maintain high professional standards, uphold equality and confidentiality, and act with integrity at all times.
- Take ownership of personal CPD to maintain credibility and expertise.
- Carry out any reasonable duties in support of client and business needs.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
Essential:
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum)
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice within the UK context
- Experience managing complex ER casework from end to end
- Ability to advise confidently at senior level
- Excellent written skills, including drafting formal documentation
- Comfortable working at pace across multiple clients
- Comfortable using a range of IT, digital and online systems and tools
- Ability to travel throughout Liverpool and parts of the North West when required. A valid driving licence is essential due to the nature of the travel
Desirable
- CIPD Level 7 or working towards it
- Experience working with SMEs or multi-site fast paced environments
- Confident delivering manager training or workshops
- Experience working with recognised trade unions, including consultation and negotiation
