Winter is traditionally the time when absenteeism increases as people are hit with the usual coughs and colds. However, it can also be the season of hangovers and shoppingitis.
Ensure that your absence management policy is up to date and don’t be afraid to use it just because it’s Christmas. If you have concerns regarding the validity of the reason for absence and evidence to suggest that your employee is not being completely truthful, you are entitled to ask for proof.
