Today, everyone at HPC and Claire House is thinking of John Brady, as his daughter Lucy (our Ops Director) has fundraised to Pay for a Day in his memory on his 90th birthday. This is a very special day to Lucy and her family as her Dad gave her his blessing for her to go to Everest despite his serious health condition as his love of children was so great he wanted her to help the children and families of Claire House.
John, affectionately known as ‘JohnBoy’ because he never grew old, passed away in March last year, the morning following Lucy’s return from Everest BC after a frantic dash to get back home from Nepal following the challenge and beat the lockdown to be at her Dad’s side, thankfully she made it.
Claire House Children Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.
Lucy is so proud to have raised over £40,000 for the hospice, as an extreme fundraiser, some of her challenges have included conquering the might of Kilimanjaro, climbing down into the Grand Canyon, camping at the bottom, and then climbing back out! Trekking in the Canadian Rockies, Leading a team of huskies across the Arctic and camping in temperatures of minus 35 degrees, taking on the World’s fastest zip line and completing the Splash Dash ( her favourite) with her grand-daughters Grace and Olivia, as well as many other events and challenges.
We would like to recognise Lucy’s generosity, celebrate the lovely memory of John Brady, and spread awareness of the wonderful work that Claire House does.
