SMSTS Refresher (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

Training summary

The SMSTS Refresher course is for delegates who have previously passed the five-day SMSTS. It aims to bring Health & Safety knowledge up-to-date, giving an overview of the legislative changes and how they impact the workplace.

Programme and Learning Outcomes

The refresher course covers:

  • Current focus of HSE’s attention
  • Risk assessment and method statements
  • CDM Regulations 2007
  • Construction Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Roles and responsibilities of key duty holders under CDM 2007 Reporting of Injuries
  • Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1995

Learning outcomes include:

  • Improve awareness of recent developments within construction, legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues
  • Identify measures that will assist in the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and new working practices

  • 2 day CITB course
  • February date: Thursday 1st – Friday 2nd February
  • May date: Thursday 9th – Friday 10th May
  • Location: Old School House, L36 0UX
  • Cost: £395 + VAT
  • Price includes CITB fees/course book = £150
  • Assessment

    The course consists of 2 assessments: a multiple choice examination paper and a continuous assessment during exercises.

    You cannot receive a certificate without full attendance.

Who is the course suitable for?

Only those delegates who have passed the five-day SMSTS course and provided evidence to us before attending the course are eligible to attend the two-day refresher course.

The course is intended for project managers, site managers and site supervisors as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies.

Possession of the CITB SMSTS qualification is a requirements on all major construction sites as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.
